Real surveys.
Published in full.

Not testimonials and not a brochure. These are actual Vigilant reports, anonymised and published with the client's written permission, with every reading, photograph and finding exactly as it was recorded on site.

Why publish these at all. Almost every damp inspection in this country is free, and the quotation is the product. It is difficult to judge a surveyor before you have paid one. These pages let you read the reasoning, see the numbers and decide for yourself, before you spend anything.
Norfolk · converted barn

The meter said damp. The building said otherwise.

High readings had been flagged ahead of a sale. Every high reading was real. None of them was water.

59.8 %WME at a door frame, and 8.2 a hand's width away. A meter cannot tell salt from moisture, and the original thresholds of a former agricultural building are exactly where salts sit.

Diagnosis: hygroscopic salt contamination · No damp proofing recommended · 14 photographs

North Essex · solid brick, 1850 to 1918

Mould round every window. New windows would not fix it.

Mould at the reveals in room after room in a recently bought house. Surveyed in heavy rain, deliberately, and every reveal read dry.

The cause was the coldest strip of wall in the house, and it would still be the coldest strip with any window fitted. Penetrating damp was excluded on the evidence rather than simply not found.

Diagnosis: condensation at a thermal bridge · No damp proofing recommended · 14 photographs
